Is Your Business Website Stuck in the year 2005?

You may remember the days of dialup internet and you may also remember the time when there were glittering icons and flashing buttons that would direct people around your website. The truth is that when you look back, you notice that this was far from professional and it also shows us how much times have changed as well. Luckily most sites are a lot cleaner now and it is safe to say that they are easier to navigate as well. With mobile becoming the new desktop, it’s time to explore the concept that websites may once again be becoming outdated.

By now you may have heard of the term “mobilegeddon”. This term relates to the amount of hassle that website owners have to go through if their site is not optimised for mobile use. In fact, Google has even gone as far to remove sites that are not suitable so if you notice that your traffic has taken a sudden dip then this could well be the reason why. Luckily Google has uploaded a very simple tool that shows you if your site is suitable for mobile use or not, but failing this, you could just go on to your site to see if there is a mobile friendly button. If your site isn’t mobile friendly after all however, then you’ll be glad to know that there are things that you can do. For example, if you are on WordPress or Joomla then you could install a plugin that gives you an instantly usable mobile version of your website.

If you did not make your website by using a CMS then you still do have plenty of options available. For example, you could just create a brand new website that arranges the content to fit the size of the screen. One disadvantage of this is that you would need to replicate the functionality of your old one and this can be incredibly difficult. Failing this, you could just create an M site. This only appears when someone is browsing on a mobile and it is very different to your standard desktop site. You may find that it has a different look and feel and you may also find that you can duplicate any updates that you might need to make to your original site as well. On top of this, you will also find that you can have it coded and that you can take content from your site before converting it for your mobile alternative. If you want an easier option then you could just go for the app. This is ideal if you have online ordering or anything else that is related, not to mention that they are great for taking your business to that very next level.

Of course, mobile apps are more expensive when compared to the above options but they can be submitted to both the Google Play and App store with ease so you really don’t have anything to worry about.
